Brooding over the past paralyzes the present and bankrupts the future! Dont worry too much for God is in Control~!
Greetings in the name of the Lord friend! How are ya’ll? I had a great day today with my sweet loving parents in law and with my super funny husband.. We went camping in Gulf of Mexico and i was a little bit upset because I wasnt able to take pictures..hu hu hu.. I thought it was already in my bag, but when i was trying to look for it right after we got there, it wasnt there..and i was kind of wahhhhhhh, worried! Coz i really dont know where did i put it.. But my sweetheart told me, opppsss sweetheart dont be upset ok?..its just camera! were still here with you..Oh it striked my heart.. (coz I worried too much).. so i had no pictures today but its ok, i still enjoyed it a lot! so after we got home, i took a rest for 2 hours and i woke up at 1 am. I called my INAY again and told her everything what happened with us.. and she told me how she wish that she’s with us also.. she’s worried that it might not happen, she’s getting old and i have to wait for my citizenship before i can petition her and i know it will take few years before it happens. And there’s the word WORRY again!
We as humans love to worry. We as Christians shouldn’t, but we often do. We worry about our future when we can see how God has worked in our past. We worry about tomorrow while we witness how God has aligned today. We worry about having enough when we’ve never done without. We worry.
This isn’t something new among Christian circles. Even the disciples, who witnessed miracle after miracle, worried. In Mark 8:14-21 we run into one of these situations. Jesus and His disciples were in a boat by themselves. Suddenly someone realized that ‘hey, there’s thirteen of us and we’ve only got one load of bread.’ They worried. Jesus, picking up on their worry questioned them about it. He couldn’t understand what the cause for concern was. On two separate occasions, the disciples had witnessed Jesus feed thousands of people from just a few loaves of bread and a couple fish. He even supplied so much that both times there was baskets left over! Yet the disciples were worried about having only one loaf of bread with Jesus in their presence.
Aren’t we like that? Although I often read this section of scripture and wonder how the disciples could be worried about what to eat when they witnessed Jesus feed thousands with nothing, I’ve come to realize I do it all the time.
I can see how God has provided the money for my family in the Philippines. I can see how everything in my past, no matter how tragic, has worked for good! I can see how God so many times has provided for our family and how we’ve never done without, yet when i talk with my Inay I still worry. I worry.
Maybe today you’re hearing this and can relate. Isn’t it so easy to take our eyes off what God has done and worry about what we haven’t given Him a chance to do? Isn’t it easy to get so caught up in ourselves that we lose sight of the big picture?
Point blank: worry is wrong. Not only does it deprive us of peace for today, but it’s insulting to God because by worrying we ignore everything God has done and doubt what He can do. God doesn’t want us to be caught up in worry, but rather to surrender in trust. God can take care of any problem and our worrying isn’t going to help Him do it. God hasn’t abandoned us as soon as we surrender at the cross. That’s just the beginning of God supplying for us.
So today, let’s make a commitment to stop worrying and start thanking. Every time worry creeps in, if we take some time remembering and thanking God for what He has done, we’ll find that worry will decrease as thankfulness increases.
"What does your anxiety do? It does not empty tomorrow of its sorrow, but it does empty today of its strength. It does not make you escape the evil; it makes you unfit to cope with it when it comes. God gives us the power to bear all the sorrow of His making, but He does not guarantee to give us strength to bear the burdens of our own making such as worry induces."
Jesus also tells us not to worry:
"For this reason I say to you, do not be anxious for your life, as to what you shall eat, or what you shall drink; nor for your body, as to what you shall put on. Is not life more than food, and the body than clothing? Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they? And which of you by being anxious can add a single cubit to his life’s span? And why are you anxious about clothing? Observe how the lilies of the field grow; they do not toil nor do they spin, yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory did not clothe himself like one of these. But if God so arrays the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more do so for you, O men of little faith? Do not be anxious then, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘With what shall we clothe ourselves?’ For all these things the Gentiles eagerly seek; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not be anxious for tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own" (Matthew 6:25-34).
So dear friend, stop worrying about things around you, just put your trust in Him.. this words of encouragement is not only for you my friends, its also for me, i worry sometimes about having no baby yet but we have to wait and keep on praying, and trusting the Lord.. God bless you dear!
